Bayer Thesis Prize 2021 & BIGS DrugS Kick-Off Meeting

In cooperation with the Pharma Center Bonn and the Limes Institute, Bayer AG has again awarded three prizes for outstanding PhD theses in the field of drug research. The award ceremony took place together with the postponed kick-off meeting of the BIGS DrugS Class 2021.

Travel grant from the Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds for BIGS DrugS PhD

The PhD student Jan Hendrik Voß (working group Prof. Christa E. Müller) plan a research stay at the University of Montreal (Canada). After a successful application, his research stay will be financed by the Boehringer Ingelheim Fund. During his research stay, he will learn novel techniques to detect and quantify intracellular signaling responses of G protein-coupled receptors. 

PhD Scholarship for Luca Svolaccia

 He applied for a scholarship by the Fonds der Chemischen Industrie and was selected.

Lecture award for Tobias Claff

Tobias Claff received a lecture award at the PhD student and postdoc meeting of the German Pharmaceutical Society (DPhG).

Bayer AG Thesis Prize 2020

As in previous years the Bayer AG, in cooperation with the Pharma Zentrum Bonn and the Limes Institute, has awarded three prizes for outstanding PhD theses in the field of pharmaceutical research to three excellent young scientists in 2020. 

Argelander Grants for BIGS DrugS PhD students

Marie Therese Hopp studies the role of the blood component heme in covid-19 infections. Christian Steinebach, Fabian Baltes and Lukas Gockel are researching the inhibition of Sars-CoV-2 replication.

Activation of opioid receptors elucidated

PhD student Tobias Claff from the working group of PZB spokesperson Prof. Dr. Christa E. Müller, in collaboration with research colleagues from Shanghai, Brussels Canada and the USA, was able to use X-ray crystallography to show which parts of the receptor are responsible for binding the active substances. With this knowledge, it should be possible to develop substances that activate only DOP.
